Former Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal moves to Ferozeshah Road bungalow days after his resignation

More than two weeks after stepping down as Delhi's Chief Minister, Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) president Arvind Kejriwal has a new address as he moved into bungalow number 5 on Ferozeshah Road in Lutyens' Delhi.

Kejriwal moved into the party's Punjab Rajya Sabha MP Ashok Mittal's residence on Oct 4 where he will live with his family.

He resigned as Delhi's CM on Sep 17, a few days after getting bail.

Meanwhile, Manish Sisodia, the former deputy chief minister, has moved into the official residence of AAP Rajya Sabha MP Harbhajan Singh on Rajendra Prasad Road.

“Kejriwal will move into 5, Ferozeshah Road residence of AAP MP from Punjab Ashok Mittal on Oct 4,” said AAP leader Saurabh Bharadwaj.

He said that after Kejriwal decided to move out of 6 Flagstaff Road in north Delhi's Civil Lines, where he had resided since 2015 as chief minister, several party leaders, including MPs, MLAs, and council members, offered Kejriwal their residences.

AAP MP Mittal expressed his joy in a video message that Kejriwal had chosen his residence. “When he (Kejriwal) resigned as the chief minister, I came to know that he had no place to stay... I invited him to be my guest at my Delhi residence, and it brings me great joy that he has accepted my request,” Mittal said.

According to party leaders, Arvind Kejriwal will lead AAP's campaign for the upcoming elections in Delhi and other states, residing in the New Delhi area, which is also his assembly constituency.

After being detained in Tihar Jail for more than five months concerning the purported excise policy scam, his resignation came unexpectedly.

Kejriwal declared that he would only run for chief minister again in Feb 2025 provided he received a "certificate of honesty" from the electorate in the Delhi assembly elections.

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) criticized Kejriwal's home at 6 Flagstaff Road, calling it "Sheesh Mahal" due to alleged anomalies in its restoration. Kejriwal resided there with his wife, children, and elderly parents.

Manish Sisodia left the AB-17 house on Mathura Road that had been assigned to him in favor of relocating with his family.

After Sisodia's incarceration in the excise policy case in March 2023, the residence was reassigned to Atishi, the current chief minister.

Atishi stays at her Kalkaji constituency residence, even after assuming the role of chief minister, while Sisodia and his family remain in the Mathura Road residence.

According to party leaders, Atishi may either stay on Mathura Road or move to the 6 Flagstaff Road bungalow.
