Lok Sabha Elections 2024: BJP releases fifth list of candidates; Kangana Ranaut gets ticket from Himachal Pradesh

The party’s fifth list of candidates includes 111 names including Kangana Ranaut who is being fielded from Mandi, Himachal Pradesh, famous Ramayan actor Arun Govil from Meerut, and former Congress MP Naveen Jindal from Haryana’s Kurukshetra.

Lok Sabha Elections 2024: BJP releases fifth list of candidates; Kangana Ranaut gets ticket from Himachal Pradesh

The Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) on Sunday released its fifth list of Lok Sabha candidates, which includes names of prominent figures like Kangana Ranaut, Ramayan actor Arun Govil, industrialist Naveen Jindal among others. 

The party’s fifth list of candidates includes 111 names including Kangana Ranaut who is being fielded from Mandi, Himachal Pradesh, famous Ramayan actor Arun Govil from Meerut, and former Congress MP Naveen Jindal from Haryana’s Kurukshetra.

Other prominent names include Maneka Gandhi, Dharmendra Pradhan, and Sita Soren. 

BJP has dropped Varun Gandhi and has fielded former Congress leader Jitin Prasad in his place, while party spokesperson Sambit Patra will contest from Puri, who lost the seat in the previous Lok Sabha elections. Sita Soren will contest from Dumka (Jharkhand).

Several Union Ministers and MPs have been dropped or replaced in this list while Maneka Gandhi has been retained from Sultanpur constituency in Uttar Pradesh. 

The list contains names for Lok Sabha seats from Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Odisha, Rajasthan, Haryana, Maharashtra, West Bengal, Kerala, Karnataka, Goa, Gujarat, Himachal Pradesh, Jharkhand, Mizoram, Sikkim, Telangana, West Bengal and Andhra Pradesh.

The Election Commission announced the dates of Lok Sabha elections on March 16. The elections will be conducted in seven phases from April 19 to June 1 while counting of votes will be done on June 4.
