Mallikarjun Kharge accuses BJP of intimidating voters, but that won't deter the opposition alliance, he assures.
Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge on Wednesday said that the INDIA bloc is ''ahead' of the BJP in the first four phases of the ongoing Lok Sabha polls, while accusing Prime Minister Narendra Modi of intimidating the voters and restraining the candidates from filing the nomination paper.
Kharge asserted that INDIA bloc will form the new government as the people of the country is set to bid farewell to Narendra Modi.
“I can say with full confidence that the people of the country have prepared to bid farewell to Narendra Modi. INDIA bloc is going to form the new government on June 4," Kharge said.
While addressing the reporters in Lucknow, along with Samajwadi Party president, Akhilesh Yadav, Kharge claimed that BJP is way behind us, and we (INDI alliance) will form the next government at the centre.
The Indian National Developmental Inclusive Alliance, commonly known by its backronym INDIA. is an opposition front announced by the leaders of 28 parties to contest the 2024 Lok Sabha elections.
The Congress president said that this ongoing election is a battle of ideology, a battle between the people using religion as the agenda and those who are fighting for the future of poor and youth, and we are fighting to save the Constitution.
“We will conduct a caste census to ascertain the social and economic status of the people, and the INDIA alliance as already did in Karnataka and Telangana, would provide 10kg of free ration to the poor if voted to the power,” Kharge said.
Akhilesh Yadav also said that the BJP would not be able to win more than 140 seats in the LS polls.
"The BJP has tangled itself in their own negative narrative. Their promises turned out to be lies. The kind of support INDIA alliance is getting, the 140 crore people of India will make BJP yearn for even 140 seats,” said Yadav.
