JD(S) leader HD Kumaraswamy has appealed to Hassan MP Prajwal Revanna, who is currently under investigation by a Special Investigation Team (SIT) for alleged sexual harassment to return to Karnataka and face the ongoing investigation.

In a candid statement to a reporter, Kumaraswamy questioned Revanna's decision to leave the state. "I would appeal to him (Prajwal Revanna) to come back to Karnataka and face this investigation," Kumaraswamy said. "If you have not done anything wrong, why are you afraid? You must confront this situation," he added.

The JD(S) leader also criticized the Congress-led Karnataka government, accusing it of "misusing" the issue. He responded to allegations made by Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, who claimed that there were "400 rapes."

Kumaraswamy challenged the veracity of these claims, demanding evidence. "Where is the small piece of document with Rahul Gandhi? His government is running here.

Even Priyanka Gandhi, during a public meeting, mentioned more than 2000 or 3000 incidents. That is her charge. They wanted to weaken the NDA by misusing this issue," Kumaraswamy stated.

Earlier, on May 18, JDS patron HD Deve Gowda expressed his views on the matter. While advocating for legal action against Prajwal Revanna, he emphasized that his son, HD Revanna, had been unfairly implicated in the case.

"HD Kumaraswamy has already spoken on behalf of our family and party regarding the allegations against Prajwal Revanna and HD Revanna. The government must explore all legal avenues against Prajwal Revanna. However, it is evident that the cases against HD Revanna were orchestrated to target him," Deve Gowda said.

On May 6, Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah appealed to the central government for assistance in bringing Prajwal Revanna back to India from abroad.

The SIT, tasked with investigating the sexual assault allegations, aims for an independent and impartial inquiry, free from any state government interference.

HD Revanna and his son, Prajwal Revanna, continue to face scrutiny as the SIT probes the allegations of sexual harassment and criminal intimidation based on a complaint filed by a woman who worked in their household.
