Latest Updates on Arvind Kejriwal: Court Extends ED Custody Following Plea for Seven-Day Extension
The Rouse Avenue Court in Delhi has decided to prolong the ED custody of Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal until April 1, adding four more days to the initial period. This decision was made in light of the ED's request for a week-long extension of the AAP leader's detention in connection with the discontinued liquor policy case. Kejriwal, who appeared in court, responded to a comment by Delhi L-G VK Saxena, stating that the situation is a "Political Conspiracy" and that the public will respond appropriately.
Kejriwal's court appearance has sparked significant interest, particularly after his wife, Sunita Kejriwal, announced that he would reveal major details about the alleged liquor policy scam. AAP leaders Atishi and Sunita were present in the courtroom during his remand hearing.
In other news, the Delhi High Court rejected a petition seeking Kejriwal's removal as Delhi's Chief Minister, citing "no room for judicial intervention". Earlier, AAP's Saurabh Bharadwaj accused the Bharatiya Janata Party of attempting to "poach AAP MLAs" with offers of money, Y plus security, and even MP seats.
As for the future of AAP, if Kejriwal does not secure legal relief soon, the party may face a serious crisis. The temporary loss of a leader with unmatched popular appeal could pose a significant challenge to the party. In states like Punjab, this could potentially shift voter sentiment towards the Congress.
