The UK Government has started accepting applications for the Chevening Scholarship 2027-28, offering Indian students and professionals an opportunity to pursue a fully funded one-year master’s degree at eligible universities in the United Kingdom.
Funded by the UK Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO) along with partner organizations, the scholarship aims to support individuals with leadership potential, academic excellence, and professional experience who can contribute to their respective countries after completing their studies.

The programme provides financial support for a one-year taught master’s course and helps selected scholars build international networks while gaining academic and professional exposure in the UK.
Indian applicants must meet specific eligibility requirements to apply for the scholarship. Candidates should demonstrate leadership qualities, academic achievements, and relevant professional experience.
Applicants must be Indian citizens and should commit to returning to India for at least two years after completing the scholarship. They must also possess an undergraduate degree equivalent to a UK upper second-class (2:1) honors degree.
Candidates are required to have at least two years of work experience, equivalent to around 2,800 hours. They must apply for three eligible UK master’s courses and obtain an unconditional offer from at least one of the selected programs.
The deadline to submit applications for the Chevening Scholarship 2027-28 is Oct 6, 2026, at 11:00 UTC. For Indian applicants, the deadline falls at 4:30 PM IST on the same day.
The selection process will evaluate applicants based on their leadership abilities, career goals, networking skills and potential to create a positive impact in the future.
