Ahead of July 1 payout, Kejriwal calls Punjab’s women assistance scheme a landmark initiative

Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) National Convenor Arvind Kejriwal on June 22 extended his heartfelt congratulations to the mothers, sisters, and daughters of Punjab ahead of the disbursement of financial assistance under the state government's Mukhya Mantri Mawan-Dhiyan Satkar Yojana and called it the world's largest women empowerment program.

Arvind Kejriwal took to social media 'X' and said, "Heartiest congratulations to all the mothers, sisters, and daughters of Punjab. On July 1st, the payment for three months will be credited to their accounts in a single installment."

"Every woman from the General category will receive ₹3,000, and every woman from the SC category will receive ₹4,500. If there is more than one woman in a family, each of them will receive this honorarium. This is the world's largest women's empowerment program," he said.

Meanwhile, Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann had earlier announced that the first installment under the Mukhya Mantri Mawan-Dhiyan Satkar Yojana would be released on July 1 through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT). Under the scheme, women from SC families will receive financial assistance at the rate of Rs 1,500 per month, amounting to Rs 4,500 for three months. Women from the General category will receive Rs 3,000 for the same period.

According to the Punjab government, the payment includes pending dues from April along with advance assistance, ensuring that beneficiaries receive support for three months in a single transfer. The scheme is aimed at enhancing the financial security of women and providing regular monetary assistance to eligible beneficiaries across the state.

The initiative is being viewed as a major welfare programme of the Bhagwant Mann-led government, with lakhs of women expected to benefit from it.

Meanwhile, on June 12, Arvind Kejriwal claimed that Punjab Assembly elections may be held in November this year as against the expected February 2027.

Kejriwal also projected Bhagwant Mann as the party’s chief ministerial face, saying, “We have to make him the chief minister again.”

Addressing a roadshow in Bathinda alongside CM Mann and senior party leaders, including Manish Sisodia and Punjab AAP president Aman Arora, Kejriwal had thanked people for the AAP’s impressive performance in the civic polls held last month.

"Except for the headline, no changes have been made to the story, as it has been sourced from IANS."
