The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) on Oct 25 alleged that party convenor and former Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal was attacked by Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) during his ‘padyatra’— journey by foot — in Delhi's Vikaspuri area.

Addressing reporters, Delhi Chief Minister Atishi alleged that BJP knows that it cannot defeat AAP and Arvind Kejriwal in upcoming elections, which is why they have resorted to such dirty politics and want to kill Kejriwal.

“The people of Delhi have seen how low the BJP's dirty politics can stoop to. Arvind Kejriwal was attacked by BJP goons during his Vikaspuri padyatra.” Atishi said.

Atishi, who took over as chief minister last month, claimed that the BJP filed false cases against the party convenor.

“Over the past two years, BJP has not left any stone unturned in troubling Arvind Kejriwal. They filed false cases against him and got him arrested. When he was in jail, BJP refused to give insulin to a man with a 30-year diabetes history,” she said.

“He received the insulin when AAP workers and Delhi people protested on the streets.. He received insulin after getting court orders. Since BJP is now clearly seeing that their attempts to trouble Kejriwal have failed on all fronts, they now want to kill him and that's why, a deadly attack was planned on him during his padyatra,” Atishi added.

She said that the people of Delhi would never forgive BJP, if anything happened to Kejriwal.

Pertinently, during his ‘padyatra’, former Delhi chief minister Kejriwal warned the voters that they would face power cuts and inflated electricity bills if BJP wins the assembly elections in Delhi next year.

Meanwhile BJP rejected AAP's allegations.

“If the public is asking Arvind Kejriwal questions, then what problem does he have? Today, people just asked Arvind Kejriwal questions over polluted water. If people are asking him questions, then he is calling it a BJP-sponsored attack,” Delhi BJP chief Virendra Sachdeva was quoted as saying by PTI.
