UP Police and Forest Department successfully apprehended wolves

Uttar Pradesh's Bahraich has been hit by a series of man-eating wolf attacks. In recent months, killing around 10 people and injuring up to 34 others.

Despite continuous attempts by 'Operation Bhediya,' two man-eating wolves remain in the wild in Bahraich.

These man-eater wolves continue to claim more victims, instilling terror and grief among villagers. The most recent incident occurred in UP Bahraich, where a 12-year-old child fell victim to one of the wolves.

The incident occurred while the child and his sister were outdoors fetching water; however, he is now safe. Tensions are mounting as wolves have begun to target areas near Bahraich, Uttar Pradesh.

The UP Police and Forest Department are using all available resources to capture the wolves. In response to the situation, the UP Police and Forest Department have started a door-to-door awareness campaign.

Previously, during 'Operation Bhediya,' the UP Police and Forest Department successfully apprehended four wolves in Bahraich.

On Sep 2, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath chaired a high-level video conferencing with senior officials from 11 districts prone to human-animal conflict: Bahraich, Lakhimpur Kheri, Pilibhit, Shravasti, Moradabad, Hapur, Sitapur, Gonda, Meerut, Bijnor, and Bareilly.

The meeting was attended by the forest minister, chief secretary, director general of police, additional chief secretary (home), additional chief secretary (forest), additional director generals from all zones, divisional commissioners, and the district magistrate.
