The programme seeks to make students more aware of their rights, encourage respect for women and children, and explain how to seek assistance when faced with harassment or unsafe situations.

Mission Shakti Campaign: Key Details

The sixth phase of the awareness campaign is scheduled to run from October 11 to October 19, 2026. Schools are conducting educational and creative activities to communicate messages about safety, dignity, equality and child protection.

The first day's programme included poster-making competitions, chart preparation, awareness rallies, classroom discussions and theatrical performances. These activities were designed to help students understand the importance of women's safety and respectful behaviour.

In some schools, students also participated in plays highlighting social problems and the need to eliminate practices that undermine women's dignity. Female police personnel reportedly interacted with students at selected schools to discuss safety measures and available support systems.

Students Informed About Four Important Helpline Numbers

An important component of the Mission Shakti campaign is helping students identify the appropriate helpline when they need assistance.

During the awareness sessions, students were informed about the following numbers:

1090 — Women Power Line: A dedicated service for women facing harassment.

181 — Women Helpline: A support service for women seeking assistance.

112 — Emergency Response Support System: The number for police and other emergency assistance.

1098 — Child Helpline: A service for children who need care, protection or emergency support.

Students were also encouraged to speak up about unsafe situations and approach trusted adults or the appropriate authorities when they need help.

UP Government Focuses on Women’s Safety and Child Protection

Uttar Pradesh Minister of State for Basic Education Sandeep Singh emphasised the importance of educating girls and women about their rights and personal safety, according to the published report.

Director General of School Education Monika Rani also stressed the need for effective implementation of the campaign's activities and participation by students across schools. Officials have been instructed to monitor the programmes and submit reports through the prescribed channels.

The school-based initiative combines awareness sessions with creative participation to make safety-related information accessible to students.

Mission Shakti Activities Scheduled for October 12

The campaign's subsequent activities are focused on issues including girls' rights, child rights, safe and unsafe touch, grievance-redressal mechanisms and emergency helpline numbers.

District- and block-level officials have been asked to monitor implementation and ensure that the prescribed activities take place in participating schools.

These sessions are intended to help students recognise potentially unsafe situations, understand their rights and learn where to seek support.

Why the Mission Shakti Campaign Matters

Awareness of personal safety, legal rights and emergency services can help children respond more confidently when they encounter harassment or other unsafe circumstances. School-based programmes also provide opportunities to discuss respect, dignity and the importance of seeking help.

The campaign forms part of broader efforts to promote women's safety and empowerment. The Union Ministry of Women and Child Development describes Mission Shakti as a programme aimed at strengthening interventions for women's safety, security and empowerment.

By engaging students through discussions, performances and awareness activities, the Uttar Pradesh campaign seeks to bring these messages into the school environment and encourage safer communities.
