In a chilling attack that has raised fresh concerns over law and order in Bihar’s capital, Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) leader and property dealer Rajkumar Yadav, also known as Aala Rai, was shot dead September 10 night in Patna’s Kankerbagh area.
According to police, the incident occurred around 10 pm at Chitragupta Nagar when Yadav was returning home to Chitragupta Magar. Unidentified gunmen opened fire on his car. Yadav attempted to flee and sought refuge in a nearby restaurant, but the attackers pursued him and fired six bullets, fatally wounding him.

He was rushed to Patna Medical College and Hospital (PMCH), where he succumbed to his injuries.
Superintendent of Police (Patna East) Parichay Kumar said authorities are investigating the possibility of a land dispute and financial transactions being behind the murder. “We have been speaking to his driver. Prima facie, it looks to be a case of land and money disputes,” he said.
RJD spokesperson Mrityunjay Tiwari lashed out at the state government, saying, “The NDA government has lost control over law and order. Assailants operate with impunity even in the state capital.”
No arrests have been made so far, and police are continuing the investigation.
