Satyawati College Clash: Campaigning for the student union elections at Delhi University's Satyawati College ended on a violent note after two groups of students clashed near Wazirpur Village in the Bharat Nagar area on September 15.

Two students were injured and two vehicles were damaged in the incident, prompting Delhi Police to begin an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the confrontation. A per the reports published by PTI have provided details of the incident, with police confirming the clash and damage to vehicles.

According to Delhi Police, the incident took place near Wazirpur Village in Bharat Nagar and involved two 19-year-old Satyawati College students, identified as Ansh and Bhavishya Chaudhary. Police teams reached the location after receiving information about the altercation and found two damaged vehicles at the spot. The Crime Team and a Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) team were subsequently called to inspect the area and collect evidence.

The two students were reportedly taken to Deep Chand Bandhu Hospital for treatment. PTI, in a report, said both students were injured during a confrontation that took place while student union election campaigning was underway.

The report also said that an incident involving firing and assault was reported during the altercation. Police, however, have so far described the episode as a quarrel between college students and said that further legal action would be determined on the basis of the medical-legal reports and preliminary inquiry.

The timing of the confrontation is significant because campaigning across Delhi University has intensified ahead of the September 18 polling. Reports on the 2026 DUSU elections show major student organisations increasing their outreach in the final days of the campaign. The elections will decide representatives for the university's central student union, while individual colleges are also conducting their respective student union processes.

Delhi University's election guidelines have also placed restrictions on campaigning. The rules prohibit the use of loudspeakers, vehicles and animals for canvassing and bar candidates from using printed posters, pamphlets and other printed campaign material. Candidates are permitted to use handmade posters and free social-media platforms for campaigning, while the permitted campaign period runs from 8 am to 8 pm.

For Satyawati College, the incident now leaves the police investigation running alongside the final phase of the election process. Investigators are examining the medical-legal reports, the physical evidence collected by the Crime Team and FSL, and CCTV footage from the surrounding area. Delhi Police has said necessary legal action will follow the preliminary inquiry and medical findings.
