In his first public address since the launch of Operation Sindoor, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on May 25 hailed the Indian Armed Forces for their precision strikes on terror hideouts across the border and framed the mission as a defining symbol of a resurgent, self-reliant India.

Speaking during the monthly "Mann Ki Baat" broadcast, the Prime Minister praised the Indian soldiers for their courage and the seamless execution of the May 7 operation, which targeted terror infrastructure in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK). But he reserved special emphasis for the role of indigenously developed weapons and technology, linking their use to the broader vision of Atmanirbhar Bharat (self-reliant India).

“Our soldiers destroyed terror bases; it was their indomitable courage, along with the power of weapons, equipment, and technology made in India,” Modi said. “This was not just a military mission—it was a reflection of our national resolve, our courage, and a transforming India.”

The Prime Minister described Operation Sindoor as a turning point that has infused the country with pride and patriotic fervour, citing spontaneous Tiranga Yatras (tricolour marches) across towns and villages as evidence of the national mood.

“You must have seen that in many cities, villages, and small towns, people came out to celebrate with Tiranga Yatras. This is the spirit of New India—fearless, united, and determined to root out terrorism,” he said.

Nationalism beyond the battlefield

Modi also used the platform to encourage citizens to embrace Indian-made products in daily life, drawing a parallel between economic self-reliance and national security.

He cited a growing trend of families opting for domestic travel, Indian-made toys, and locally crafted gifts, urging the nation to continue prioritising homegrown goods.

“This is not just about economic decisions — it is a powerful form of public participation in nation-building. One small step by each of us can accelerate the progress of the nation,” he said.

Maoist-hit regions see change

In a broader reflection on national security and development, Modi also spotlighted improvements in Maoist-affected regions, pointing to a village in Gadchiroli that received its first-ever bus service.

“Due to the collective fight against Maoism, basic amenities are now reaching even the remotest corners. The people of the village say the arrival of a bus has changed their lives,” he added.

From cross-border anti-terror operations to grassroots development, Modi’s address painted a sweeping picture of a nation on the move—assertive on the global stage and resolute in its push for self-reliance at home.
