UPSC Recruitment 2026: Applications open for 80 Assistant Provident Fund Commissioner posts

The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) has opened applications for 80 Assistant Provident Fund Commissioner positions in the Employees’ Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO), under the Ministry of Labour and Employment.

Eligible candidates can submit their applications through the UPSC Online Recruitment Application portal at upsconline.nic.in/ora. The application window will remain open from Aug 22 through Sept 11.

The recruitment is for permanent Group 'A' non-ministerial positions under the Central Board, with selected candidates appointed at Level 10 of the Pay Matrix as per the 7th Central Pay Commission (CPC).

The 80 vacancies have been distributed across categories. The unreserved category has 29 positions, while EWS candidates have eight vacancies. The OBC category has 18 posts, followed by 15 for SC candidates and 10 for ST candidates.

Three vacancies have been earmarked for Persons with Benchmark Disabilities (PwBD).

The maximum age allowed varies according to the candidate’s category. The upper age limit is 35 years for UR and EWS candidates, 38 years for OBC candidates, and 40 years for SC and ST candidates.

PwBD candidates can receive an additional age relaxation of up to 10 years, subject to the maximum permissible age of 56 years.

Applicants must have a degree from a recognized university or an equivalent qualification. A diploma in Company Law, Labour Laws or Public Administration has been listed as a desirable qualification.

Assistant Provident Fund Commissioners will be responsible for supervising functions related to enforcement, recovery, accounts, administration, cash, legal matters, pensions and computer operations.

The position also includes statutory and administrative responsibilities such as conducting inquiries, resolving claims, managing administrative work, maintaining cash books, reconciling bank statements and preparing Management Information System (MIS) returns.

The position carries a one-year probation period and is classified as a Central Board Group 'A' non-ministerial post. It is equivalent to corresponding Group ‘A’ positions in the Central Government at the applicable pay level.

Candidates shortlisted for further consideration will have to provide documents supporting their eligibility and claims. UPSC will scrutinize the submitted documents before calling candidates who meet all eligibility requirements for an interview.
