Lawrence Bishnoi gang claims responsibility for blast outside Badshah’s Chandigarh nightclubs

Two small explosions took place outside a nightclub in Sector 26 in Chandigarh during the early hours of Nov 26. The blasts, occurring between 2:30 am and 2:45 am, resulted in slight property damage.

The explosives were thrown by two individuals riding a motorcycle, and members of Lawrence Bishnoi’s gang, including Goldy Brar and Rohit Godara, later took responsibility for the attack in a Facebook post.

According to the police, an FIR has been filed and an investigation is in progress.

One of the club's employees, Puran, said that even though the bar was closed, seven or eight people were working there when the tragedy occurred.

Around 3:15 in the morning, they apparently heard a loud noise and rushed outside. He said that they did not see anyone, but they did find broken glass.

Police said the explosive devices were thrown outside Seville, a bar and lounge owned by rapper Badshah, and De’Orra, a club owned by Rattan Lubana, which are located approximately 30 meters apart, by two people on motorcycles.

At 3:30 am, a call was received reporting a loud sound near SCO 23, Sector 26. The police control room (PCR) vehicle reached the spot, and a team inspected the site. It recovered jute rope pieces. A forensic team was called to the spot, and an investigation is underway,” the Chandigarh Police statement said.

In addition to breaking window glass and causing minor structural damage to both locations, the explosives also caused minor damage to a nearby club.

Following reports of the blasts, Chandigarh Police hurried to the scene and launched their investigation.

Police have not yet confirmed the precise type of the device, but preliminary results point to the deployment of a homemade bomb.

The explosions have sparked worries about local safety, especially because Prime Minister Narendra Modi is expected to visit Chandigarh on Dec 3.

The murder of Punjabi musician Sidhu Moosewala in May 2022 was earlier linked to Goldy Brar, a well-known member of the Lawrence Bishnoi gang.

Earlier this year, he was designated a terrorist under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act.

Investigators are still looking into the explosions to find the perpetrators and determine their motives.
