After the incident came to light, Delhi Chief Minister Atishi slammed the BJP-led central government saying, "The central government has only one responsibility in Delhi - to provide security to the people of Delhi. They have completely failed in their responsibility."
Aam Aadmi Party on Dec 4 slammed the Modi government for failing to provide security to Delhiites after a shocking incident emerged where three members of a family were allegedly stabbed to death in south Delhi's Neb Sarai.
The victims included a 53-year-old man identified as Rajesh, his 47-year-old wife Komal and their 23-year-old daughter Kavita, police said.
Rajesh's son, however, survived the incident as he went out for his routine morning walk around 5 am. Upon returning, he found his entire family dead.
After the incident came to light, Delhi Chief Minister Atishi slammed the central government saying, “There was a triple murder in Neb Sarai this morning. Murders are happening in broad daylight in Delhi, bullets are being fired, and drugs are being sold openly.”
"The central government has only one responsibility in Delhi - to provide security to the people of Delhi. They have completely failed in their responsibility," the veteran Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader lashed out on X.
Police rushed to the spot and have launched a probe into the matter.
"Prima facie, there is no ransacking or stealing of articles from the house," the police said.
A neighbour while talking to the media said they rushed to the house after hearing noise.
"After we reached, the son told us that he went out for a morning walk and when he returned he saw that his parents and sister had been stabbed to death and blood had spanned all around. He told us that it was their marriage anniversary and he went after wishing them," the neighbour was quoted as saying by news agency ANI.
Former Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal and AAP's national convenor also accused the Modi-led union government of allowing criminals a free hand.
Calling the incident 'extremely painful and frightening', Kejriwal said, "Every day, Delhiites wake up to such frightening news. Criminals have been given a free hand, and law and order have collapsed. Homes are being destroyed, innocent lives are being lost. And those who are responsible are silently watching all this happen," he posted on X.
Delhi Police operates under the Union Ministry of Home Affairs.
After a series of violent incidents in Delhi, the AAP has intensified its attack on the central government, accusing it of neglecting Delhi's law and order situation ahead of the upcoming Delhi Assembly elections.
Earlier on Dec 3, AAP MPs Sanjay Singh and Raghav Chaddha had submitted notices to discuss the rising criminal cases in Parliament.
Sanjay Singh, in his notice, said that 2024 has seen an alarming rise in criminal activities in the national capital.
While cases of attempted murders have gone up by 18% in Delhi, theft cases have increased by 25% and cases of robbery have gone up by 23%, Singh highlighted citing data.
