Students were hospitalized after suffering headaches, difficulty in breathing, as a result of a suspected gas leak near their coaching facility. The investigation is underway.
Ten students from a coaching institute in Mahesh Nagar, Jaipur, were rushed to the hospital after fainting, likely due to a suspected gas leak from a nearby drain. Authorities are investigating the cause of the incident.
Students complained of severe headaches and breathing difficulties as a result of the Dec 15 night incident, which caused panic.
Police said initial investigations indicate the gas leak might have come from a drain close to the institute.
Another major issue being investigated is smoke from the kitchen on the building's terrace.
Seven students were brought in with respiratory distress and suffocation symptoms, according to a private hospital doctor, and the other students were admitted to different hospitals.
"The affected students reported coughing and breathlessness but are now in stable condition," the doctor said.
The precise source of the gas leak has not yet been found, but authorities have ruled out food poisoning as the cause.
To determine who is responsible for the carelessness that caused the incident, investigations are still being conducted.
Parents and locals staged rallies outside the coaching center, calling for more stringent safety regulations and answers.
They voiced against these infractions, which are intolerable, particularly in places of learning where children's welfare is the main concern.
In addition to highlighting the significance of following safety regulations to avoid similar incidents in the future, the police have promised a comprehensive investigation into the incident.
All of the hospitalized students are reportedly recovering.
Serious concerns have been raised by the incident over the coaching center's safety protocols and unresolved infrastructural problems.
