New Delhi: Electronics Sector Skills Council of India (ESSCI), a National Skill Development Corporation approved organization for skill development conducted a webinar for vocational career building programme with department of Samagra Shikha, Rajasthan for class 12 student. In this webinar career expert were explained on Vertical Mobility (General Degree), Higher Education (B.Voc & Degree Apprenticeship), Placement (Entry Level Jobs) and Apprenticeship Opportunities (NAPS).
Mr. Saleem Ahmed (VP-BD) and Dr. Devraj Singh (VP-Technical) conducted the session on behalf of ESSCI. The session was attended by the students from 178 schools across Rajasthan over a period of 90 minutes, and showed a keen interest in the session and participated enthusiastically. Mrs. Asha Gupta (Deputy Director, Vocational Education), Rajasthan Council of Secondary Education and other officials of Samagra Shiksha Rajasthan, and NSDC were also present.
Saleem Ahmed stated that vocational learning opportunities play a critical role in skill development and employability. “The importance of vocational development can largely be summed up as the difference between theoretical knowledge vs. practical skills. The skills for work and vocational pathways are significantly limited for these students, as their theoretical knowledge does not have the work experience that helps them transition from a classroom study topic into their actual profession. This can sometimes cause challenges when the students graduate and transition into the working world,” he said.
He added: “For students in a vocational education and training setting, this situation gets corrected. Students spend hours in the practical workshops each week learning hands-on practical skills related to their chosen field.”
Dr Devraj Singh explained that when employers look for new employees to join their institution, they know that they want to find someone who has the skills to do the job well and can adapt quickly to the work environment.
