The regularization applies to Assistant Professors posted across various government colleges in the state who have successfully completed two years of probation.

Officials said the teachers will receive service benefits under the Uttarakhand Government Servants Regularization Rules 2002.

The decision follows provisions under the Higher Education Group A Service Rules 2003, which allow regularization of faculty members whose work and conduct are found satisfactory and whose integrity is certified by the appointing authority.

The 268 Assistant Professors belong to 13 subjects. These include 71 in Political Science, 71 in Hindi, 35 each in Sanskrit and Economics, 26 in Education, 13 in Home Science, 5 in Sociology, 4 in History, 2 each in Geography and Physics, and 1 each in Chemistry, Zoology, and English.

Officials said the state government has been focusing on improving academic quality in higher education by strengthening teaching capacity, innovation, and research-based activities, along with regular appointments and training of faculty in government colleges.

The department said providing teachers with stable and dignified service conditions is essential for maintaining academic continuity and improving the quality of higher education institutions.

“Approval has been granted for the regularization of 268 professors under the Higher Education Department who have successfully completed their probation period. This decision reflects the State Government’s sensitivity towards the interests of employees as well as its commitment to strengthening higher education,” said Dr Dhan Singh Rawat, Higher Education Minister.
