The new UPSC-style recruitment model aims to simplify Madhya Pradesh’s hiring process, fill thousands of vacancies faster, and ensure greater transparency, accountability, and efficiency across government departments.

The Madhya Pradesh government has announced a sweeping reform to overhaul its recruitment system, introducing a single, unified entrance examination for all state government jobs.
Chief Minister Dr Mohan Yadav said the new model, inspired by the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC), will replace the current system of multiple department-specific exams with one comprehensive test.

Officials said the initiative aims to enhance transparency, efficiency, and consistency in state-level hiring while making the process simpler for job aspirants.
The new framework is expected to help fill thousands of government vacancies more quickly and fairly.
At present, the Madhya Pradesh Public Service Commission (MPPSC) conducts several independent examinations for different posts, often resulting in long delays in recruitment and appointments.
The upcoming single-window model will unify these processes into one standardized exam.
Dr Yadav said the reform will make recruitment more streamlined and efficient while ensuring fairness.
“Holding separate exams for each department takes a lot of time and resources. A single examination system will bring transparency and speed up appointments,” he said.
Emphasizing the urgency of addressing vacancies in the police force, the Chief Minister said the government aims to fill over 20,000 posts in the next three years.
The unified exam, he added, will play a key role in achieving this goal while maintaining merit-based selection.
Officials noted that the reform would significantly reduce the time between job notifications and final appointments, eliminating long-standing administrative delays that have slowed down public sector hiring.
Meanwhile, ongoing recruitment processes remain unaffected. Registrations for the Madhya Pradesh State Eligibility Test (MP SET) 2025 are currently underway.
The application window opened on Oct 25, 2024, and will remain open until Nov 20, 2025.

The MP SET qualifies candidates for lectureship and assistant professorship positions and involves a three-stage process comprising a preliminary exam, a mains exam, and an interview.
The proposed unified examination marks a major step toward building a more efficient, transparent, and accountable recruitment system in Madhya Pradesh.
By consolidating various departmental exams into one streamlined process, the state aims to accelerate job creation, improve governance, and strengthen public confidence in its hiring framework.
