Infosys dismissed 240 trainees who didn’t clear internal assessments, continuing its February layoffs. The company is offering free upskilling programs with NIIT and UpGrad to help affected individuals.
Infosys has announced the dismissal of 240 trainees who did not clear their internal assessment tests, as per company emails sent out on April 18.
This move follows a similar round of layoffs in February, where over 300 trainees were let go. To assist those impacted, including those from the earlier layoffs, Infosys is providing free upskilling opportunities in partnership with NIIT and UpGrad.
The programs aim to equip trainees with the necessary skills for potential roles in the BPM industry or to further develop their IT expertise.
“Further to the announcement of the results of your final assessment attempt, please be informed that you have not met the qualifying criteria in the ‘Generic Foundation Training Program’ despite the additional preparation time, doubt-clearing sessions, several mock assessments, and three attempts. As a result, you will not be able to continue your journey for the apprenticeship program. While this may be a disappointing outcome, we are here to further support you in your learning journey.” Read Infosys' email to fired trainees.
“As you explore opportunities outside of Infosys, we have planned professional outplacement services to help you on that journey. We also wish to offer you another career pathway by taking an Infosys-sponsored external training to prepare for potential roles in the BPM industry. On successful completion of the training, you may also apply to available opportunities in Infosys BPM Limited. However, if you wish to continue honing your IT skills, you also have an option to choose an Infosys-sponsored external training program on information technology fundamentals to further support your IT career journey,” it added.
The mail also included that, upon completing a Separation and General Release Agreement ("Agreement"), the employee would be eligible for a comprehensive set of support measures.
These include an ex-gratia payment equivalent to one month’s salary and the issuance of a relieving letter as formal documentation of the separation.
Career assistance would be extended through outplacement services, alongside the option to enroll in either a 12-week training program for potential roles in the BPM industry or a 24-week foundational course in information technology aimed at preparing for a career in the IT sector.
Additionally, transport from Mysore to Bangalore and a standard travel allowance to the employee’s hometown would be provided.
Accommodation would be available at the Infosys Employee Care Centre in Mysore as needed, up until the departure date. Counseling services would also be made accessible should the employee require them.
