The awards acknowledge the company's efforts to address social and economic challenges in communities surrounding its operational facilities through targeted corporate social responsibility (CSR) programmes.

Project Aarogya Benefits More Than 85,000 People

Vedanta Power's Project Aarogya focuses on improving access to preventive and curative healthcare services in underserved communities. According to the company, the initiative has reached more than 85,000 individuals through healthcare programmes designed around local requirements.

The programme combines mobile medical services, health screening camps, awareness campaigns and nutritional assistance to address healthcare gaps in rural and underserved areas.

At the Sakti Thermal Power Plant in Chhattisgarh and Meenakshi Energy Limited in Andhra Pradesh, Mobile Health Units provide medical assistance closer to residents' homes. The initiative also includes cancer screening and awareness programmes to encourage early detection and preventive healthcare.

In Punjab and Chhattisgarh, specialised eye-care and gynaecology camps are organised to address specific healthcare requirements. The company also supports tuberculosis patients with nutritional assistance through the government's Nikshay Mitra initiative.

Awareness campaigns covering HIV/AIDS, dengue and other public health concerns form another part of the programme. These activities aim to improve health awareness and encourage timely medical intervention among local communities.

Project Navi Disha Supports More Than 3,000 Farmers in Punjab

Implemented by the Talwandi Sabo Thermal Plant in Punjab, Project Navi Disha was launched in 2016 to strengthen agricultural livelihoods and promote sustainable farming practices.

The programme supports more than 3,000 farmers by addressing challenges related to agricultural productivity, farming resources and water conservation.

Its activities include agricultural training, capacity-building sessions, distribution of seeds and bio-fertilisers, water conservation awareness and healthcare support for livestock.

Through these interventions, the initiative seeks to equip farmers with practical knowledge and resources to improve agricultural practices, enhance productivity and strengthen their long-term income opportunities.

The recognition at the India CSR Awards 2026 highlights the importance of agricultural development initiatives that combine technical knowledge, access to resources and sustainable farming practices.

Vedanta Power CEO on Community Development and CSR Initiatives

Commenting on the achievement, Rajinder Singh Ahuja, CEO and Whole-time Director of Vedanta Power Limited, said that effective community development requires understanding the specific needs of people living around the company's operational locations.

He highlighted that Project Aarogya is working to improve access to essential medical services, while Project Navi Disha aims to strengthen farmers' livelihoods through sustainable agricultural practices.

Ahuja added that the recognition of both programmes encourages the company to continue investing in initiatives that improve quality of life, create opportunities and contribute to the long-term development of local communities.

India CSR Awards 2026 Highlight Community Development Initiatives

The awards were presented during the 19th India CSR Leadership Summit 2026, which focused on the theme 'CSR Enabling Innovation – Bringing Ideas, Technology, Capital and Partnerships Together to Scale Social Impact.'

The dual recognition highlights the role of corporate initiatives in addressing healthcare and livelihood challenges through locally relevant development programmes.
