Former Indian cricketer and ex-BCCI chief selector MSK Prasad collaborates with Woxsen University
Woxsen University welcomed former Indian cricketer and ex-BCCI chief selector MSK Prasad, marking a pivotal step in advancing sports education and cricket development. His visit included a comprehensive tour of the Woxsen Sports Academy, culminating in the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between Woxsen University, MSK Prasad’s International Cricket Academy, and SixS Sports.
This collaboration is set to provide structured training programs, professional mentorship, and world-class facilities to young cricketing aspirants. By combining Woxsen’s premier sports ecosystem with the expertise of MSK Prasad and SixS Sports, the initiative aims to strengthen grassroots cricket and create opportunities for emerging talent to excel at national and international levels.
Addressing the gathering, MSK Prasad underscored the significance of structured coaching in shaping cricketing careers. “The IPL, which initially secured TV rights worth ₹7,000 crore for a decade, has now skyrocketed to ₹50,000 crore in just five years. This tremendous growth highlights the dedication of BCCI and the IPL council in building a brand that young cricketers dream of joining. University-level tournaments have historically played a key role in nurturing talent, as seen in the careers of legends like Sunil Gavaskar and Ravi Shastri. Competitions such as the Viji Trophy continue to produce exceptional players.”
During his visit, Prasad interacted with students and media representatives, sharing valuable insights from his cricketing journey. The newly established MoU focuses on identifying promising players through scouting programs, designing customized training modules, assisting with player registrations, and conducting development workshops and counseling sessions.
Commending Woxsen’s efforts, Prasad remarked, “Woxsen University has built an incredible sports facility that meets international standards. It is imperative that we leverage this infrastructure to nurture talent effectively.”
This strategic partnership is poised to shape the next generation of cricketers, equipping them with the skills, training, and exposure necessary to thrive in professional cricket.
