The October celebrations featured student exhibitions, creative workshops and industry interactions, highlighting emerging trends and opportunities across multiple design disciplines.

JS Institute of Design (JSID), New Delhi, organised Innovation Day 2026, bringing together students, faculty members and more than 30 industry professionals to discuss emerging trends, creative possibilities and the future of the design industry.
The multi-day event also marked the institute's Foundation Day and commemorated the birth anniversary of Late Shri Jagdish Khandelwal, founder of Jagdish Store and JS Institute of Design.

The celebrations were organised around three major activities, providing students with opportunities to experiment with creative concepts, showcase their work and interact with experienced professionals from the design industry.
The programme began with the Innovision Workshop, conducted on October 21 and 22 under the guidance of industry expert Prof. Soumitra Dasgupta. The workshop encouraged students to explore unconventional ideas, experiment with creative approaches and develop fresh perspectives on design.
This was followed by the Student Poster Showcase on October 23, where students presented their creative concepts and design interpretations through posters. The exhibition provided a platform for young designers to communicate their ideas and demonstrate their creative abilities.
The celebrations concluded on October 24 with a roundtable discussion titled 'Innovation Now and in Future'. The session brought together more than 30 industry experts and practitioners to examine the changing landscape of design and the opportunities emerging across different creative sectors.
Discussions covered several areas, including gaming, visual communication, animation, product design, photography, interior design and fashion design. The interaction also offered students insights into evolving industry expectations and the skills required to succeed in the design profession.
Commenting on the event, Nien Siao, Dean of JS Institute of Design, emphasised the importance of creativity, curiosity and collaboration in developing future-ready designers.
She said Innovation Day enables students to gain exposure to new ideas, interact with industry professionals and understand how the role of design is evolving. She also highlighted the significance of this year's celebrations, which brought together the institute's Foundation Day and a tribute to the legacy of its founder, Late Shri Jagdish Khandelwal.
According to the institute, the event reflects its continued emphasis on practical learning, creative exploration and closer engagement between students and industry professionals.
Through Innovation Day 2026, JS Institute of Design reiterated its commitment to creating learning opportunities that combine creative experimentation with industry exposure.
The institute aims to encourage students to develop independent thinking, explore emerging design practices and understand the practical applications of their creative skills.
By organising workshops, student showcases and discussions with industry experts, JSID seeks to provide aspiring designers with greater exposure to professional practices and changing requirements across the design sector.
