India TV star Yogesh Mahajan dies at 44 of cardiac arrest

Best remembered for playing Shukracharya in the fictional mythological TV series Shiv “Shakti – Tap Tyag Tandav,” veteran TV actor Yogesh Mahajan passed away on Jan 19 after suffering a sudden heart attack.

When he was found unconscious in his apartment in Umergaon, Gujarat, after missing work, his coworkers broke into his home and rushed him to the hospital, where he was declared dead.

A statement from Mahajan's family, expressing their shock and sorrow over his sudden death, was posted on Instagram by co-actor Akanksha Rawat.

According to Rawat, Mahajan was a lively person with a remarkable sense of humor.

“He was such a lively person with a great sense of humor. We’ve been shooting together for more than a year. At the moment, we are all in shock,” she said.

The Cine and TV Artistes' Association (CINTAA), of which Mahajan had been a member since 2005, expressed their condolences on X (formerly Twitter), stating, “#CINTAA expresses its condolences on the demise of Yogesh Mahajan (member since 2005) #condolence #restinpeace #rip.”

He was rushed to the hospital but was declared dead.

The family issued an official statement, which read, “It is with profound grief that we inform you of the sudden and untimely demise of our beloved Yogesh Mahajan. The last rites for Mahajan were conducted on the morning of Jan 20 in Mumbai.

His co-star Suzanne Bernert also shared her memories of their bond and expressed her heartfelt condolences.

“I can’t believe it. Such a wonderful human being and actor. We had intense scenes, but off-camera, it was great fun! He was always positive, and I am shocked sitting in Hyderabad upon hearing the news,” she said.
