YouTuber and Bigg Boss winner escapes unharmed; police probe gang threat claiming responsibility.
Gurugram woke to gunfire on August 17 morning as masked assailants sprayed over two dozen bullets at the residence of controversial YouTuber and Bigg Boss OTT winner Elvish Yadav in Sector 57.
The attack, carried out by three bike-borne men between 5.30 and 6 am, riddled the lower floors of the multi-storey house. Yadav, 27, was not present at the time. His caretaker and family members, who were inside, escaped unhurt.
“Three masked miscreants opened fire outside the residence… More than a dozen rounds were fired,” Gurugram Police PRO Sandeep Kumar confirmed.
Police teams rushed to the spot, collected forensic evidence, and are now scanning CCTV footage from the neighborhood. Investigators said legal action is being initiated, though a formal complaint from the family is awaited.
Yadav’s father said the family had received no prior threats. “We were sleeping when they came on a motorcycle and started firing. Two men stepped down and opened fire while one waited on the bike. They fired 25–30 rounds before fleeing,” he said.
Gang claims responsibility online
Hours after the shooting, a post surfaced on social media allegedly from the “Bhau Gang,” claiming responsibility. The post, featuring gun imagery, named gangsters Himanshu Bhau and Neeraj Faridpuria, accusing Yadav of promoting illegal betting apps.
“Anyone promoting betting should be warned—calls or bullets can come their way,” the post read. The claim has not been independently verified.
A career shadowed by controversy
Elvish Yadav, who commands a massive online following and won Bigg Boss OTT 2 in 2023, has faced repeated brushes with controversy. Last year, he was arrested in Noida for his alleged role in supplying cobra venom at rave parties. He was later granted bail but continues to face trial.
For now, police are hunting the attackers, while Yadav — currently outside Haryana—remains in the crosshairs of a shadowy gang war playing out online.
