Parents and locals clashed with police and blocked a major road in Bangaon after a temporary staff member was accused of molesting a student, leading to school vandalism and unrest.

Chaos broke out at a high school in West Bengal’s Bangaon, North 24 Parganas, on Dec 10 after a group of people attacked a temporary staff member and damaged school property, accusing him of molesting a class 8 student, police said.
The girl’s relatives and local residents clashed with law enforcement and blocked the Bangaon-Bagda Road, disrupting traffic in the area. No arrests have been reported so far.

Police said the minor informed her family that the alleged molestation occurred after school hours, though the exact timing is not yet confirmed.
"Following the allegation, the student's parents, along with other guardians and locals, entered the school premises, assaulted the accused, and vandalized parts of the building," a police officer said.

Parents of other students joined the protest on the Bangaon-Bagda Road, halting vehicles for several hours, the officer added.
"A large police team was deployed there. Our officers faced resistance, and some personnel were injured during the intervention. The situation was brought under control after sustained efforts," he said.
The officer confirmed that police have launched an investigation into the incident.
