The three-month program offers selected students hands-on experience in government departments along with a monthly stipend of ₹20,000 to help them understand administrative processes and contribute ideas.
Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta announced the launch of the Viksit Delhi CM Internship Programme, with 87 students selected to work alongside the government for three months starting Sept 15.
The internship offers a monthly stipend of ₹20,000.
The program attracted around 9,000 applicants pursuing undergraduate and postgraduate studies, but only 87 were chosen through a transparent selection process, Gupta said.
After three days of training, the interns will be placed in various government departments.
During the internship, students will gain hands-on experience with administrative processes and have the opportunity to contribute their ideas to governance, the Chief Minister said.
She congratulated the selected candidates during the distribution of appointment letters at the Delhi Secretariat.
Gupta noted that this initiative is inspired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s PM Internship Scheme and aims to involve young people in government decision-making.
The government remains focused on empowering youth and fostering their participation in nation-building.
The Chief Minister also highlighted that previous internship programs were often limited and lacked transparency, but this new scheme emphasizes openness and broader inclusion.
