New four-part system allows candidates to complete core registration steps in advance and encourages Aadhaar use for smooth ID verification.
In a move to streamline the examination process and reduce last-minute delays, the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) has launched a revamped online application portal for all future exams.
According to the official announcement, the new portal features four sections: Account Creation, Universal Registration, Common Application Form, and Examination.
The first three sections can be completed by candidates at any time, while the 'Examination' section will require exam-specific details to be filled out within the time frame mentioned in each exam notification.
"The UPSC Online Application Portal has four parts, arranged in 4 separate cards at the home page, three of which, namely Account Creation, Universal Registration, and Common Application Form, contain information that is common to all examinations and can be filled out anytime by the candidates," the commission said.
"The fourth part, i.e., Examination, contains examination notices, examination applications, and application status. Only examination-specific information is to be filled up in this part by candidates during the time period allowed in the notification of an examination,” it added.
The new system allows candidates to complete most of the process in advance, saving time and helping avoid last-minute technical issues when a new examination is announced.
All candidates will now be required to submit applications and upload necessary documents through this updated platform available at upsconline.nic.in.
The previous One Time Registration (OTR) system will no longer be valid.
For easier verification, UPSC strongly recommends candidates use their Aadhaar card as the ID document in the Universal Registration section.
"Doing so will serve as a permanent and common record for all examinations," the notice added.
Applications for the upcoming CDS II and NDA & NA II examinations for 2025 will be processed exclusively through this new system.
Candidates are advised to visit the official UPSC website for complete details and further updates.
