Eligible students in India can sign up by September 15 to access Gemini 2.5 Pro, writing and research tools, real-time learning support, video creation features, and 2 TB cloud storage.
College students across India can now access Google’s most advanced AI tools at no cost for a full year as part of a new initiative designed to support learning, research, and career preparation.
The tech giant has launched "Gemini for Students," a special offer that gives eligible users free access to the Gemini Advanced subscription, typically part of the Google One AI Premium plan.
The offer is available to students who are 18 years or older. To qualify, they must register through the official Google offer page by Sept 15. Once enrolled, students will be able to use "Gemini 2.5 Pro," Google’s most powerful AI model to date.
The plan includes a range of AI-powered features designed to help students across various academic and creative tasks. The package includes unlimited academic assistance, offering help with exams, homework, essays, coding problems, and interview preparation.
Students will also be able to use "NotebookLM" with expanded usage capacity to organize and summarize notes and "Gemini Live" for real-time interaction and personalized learning.
"Veo 3," an AI-driven video creation tool, will be available for use in presentations and classroom projects. Students can also tap into Google’s deep research capabilities, allowing them to access credible, high-quality sources for assignments.
In addition, the plan integrates with Gmail, Docs, and Sheets to streamline writing and editing work. To support all this, students will be provided with 2 TB of cloud storage shared across Google Drive, Gmail, and Photos.
The additional space is intended to accommodate large files related to research, assignments, presentations, and creative projects.
As AI continues to influence how students study and prepare for future careers, Google says this initiative aims to promote responsible exploration of AI tools in the classroom.
A spokesperson said, “The company hopes this will help students learn better, faster, and smarter, with proper guidance and resources.”
India is among the first countries where Google is offering the Gemini Advanced plan at scale to the student community. While the company has not set a cap on the number of users, the rollout reflects growing efforts by tech companies to play a central role in education.
"Whether it’s for finishing assignments, building a resume, or exploring ideas, Gemini for Students is being pitched as a digital companion for the modern classroom," the company said.
According to a joint report by Google and Kantar, 75% of people in India believe they need a daily digital tool to help them learn and grow.
Google noted that its AI chatbot Gemini is increasingly filling that role. The same study found that 95% of students in India using Gemini feel more confident in their daily lives.
With this initiative, Google aims to empower Indian students with access to cutting-edge tools that can enhance learning, boost creativity, and build future-ready skills in an AI-driven world.
