According to an official statement, the scholarships are jointly funded by the UK government’s GREAT Britain Campaign, the British Council, and participating universities. The initiative is designed to widen access to UK education while strengthening educational and cultural links between India and the UK.

The statement said the UK education system is known for academic rigor and a wide range of subject options, offering students exposure to varied teaching methods and opportunities to build practical and analytical skills. It added that post-study work routes allow graduates to gain professional experience that can support long-term career growth.

The GREAT Scholarships are intended to help Indian students pursue specialized postgraduate study in the UK while developing global perspectives and skills relevant to future careers, the statement said.
