NTA releases scorecards for three re-examined subjects; over 35,000 candidates qualify for JRF, Assistant Professor and PhD categories.

The National Testing Agency (NTA) has declared the UGC NET June 2026 results for English, Commerce and Sociology, allowing candidates who appeared for the examination to check their scores and download their scorecards from the official website, ugcnet.nta.nic.in.
The results were declared on September 17 after candidates in the three subjects were re-examined on September 9 and 10. The re-examination was conducted at 454 centres across 272 cities in the country.

According to the NTA, 1,96,491 candidates registered for the three subjects, while 1,20,355 candidates appeared for the examination. Among those registered, 1,29,552 were female, 66,931 were male and eight belonged to the third gender category.
The results show that 824 candidates qualified for Junior Research Fellowship (JRF), while 11,610 candidates qualified for Assistant Professor eligibility. Another 23,154 candidates qualified under the PhD-only category.
The examination process included an opportunity for candidates to challenge the provisional answer keys. The question papers, provisional answer keys and recorded responses were made available from September 10 to 13. The objections raised by candidates were examined by subject experts, following which the results were prepared using the finalised answer keys.
Candidates can check their results and download their scorecards by following these steps:
Candidates are advised to carefully check all details mentioned on their scorecards. The eligibility and supporting documents of qualified candidates will be verified by the concerned authorities in accordance with the prescribed norms.
The NTA has advised candidates to rely on official announcements for information related to the results, qualification status and subsequent academic procedures.
Any further instructions will be issued through the official portal. Candidates should avoid relying on unofficial sources for result-related information and regularly check the NTA website for verified updates.
The UGC NET examination determines eligibility for Junior Research Fellowship, Assistant Professor appointments and admission to PhD programmes, depending on the category in which a candidate qualifies.
