Tripura expands education workforce with plan to hire 1,733 teachers

Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha said the state will soon begin recruiting 1,733 teachers as part of a broader push to strengthen the education system and expand employment opportunities.

He made the announcement during a government event in Agartala, noting that the new hiring plan reflects the administration’s focus on filling key vacancies in priority sectors.

Saha said the Education Department has already appointed 6,998 teachers and support staff since 2018, while government departments collectively provided 20,181 jobs during the same period.

He added that about 5,000 people have also been engaged on a contractual basis to support essential services.

According to the CM, the recruitment process has become more transparent, and earlier methods based on recommendations or preference are no longer used in state government appointments.

He also confirmed that work is underway on a new transfer policy intended to create a clearer and more organized system for employee postings.

Speaking to medical professionals, Saha said the government is examining a revised marking system for MBBS doctors serving in rural hospitals who want to pursue MD or MS programs.
