The Maidan Garhi police received a PCR call around 3 pm on October 13 and immediately dispatched a team to the university. An initial case of molestation was registered, which was later expanded to include sections relating to attempted gang rape following the victim’s detailed statement.

Authorities confirmed that CCTV cameras are installed across most of the campus. Investigators are meticulously reviewing footage from areas cited by the student.

Tensions ran high at the international institution on October 13 as students staged protests demanding justice. The university administration, which has yet to release a public statement, said it is fully cooperating with the investigation.

SAU, established through an agreement among South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation (SAARC) countries, provides education to students from all eight member nations and falls under the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA).

The incident follows closely on the heels of another sexual assault in Delhi, where an 18-year-old MBBS student from Haryana was allegedly raped at a hotel in Adarsh Nagar, raising fresh concerns about safety for women in the capital.
