Following allegations of sexual abuse at RSS shakha, parties demand probe as RSS, BJP accuse rivals of exploiting tragedy for political gain.

The suicide of a Kerala IT professional, who left a note on Instagram alleging sexual abuse at an RSS shakha, has ignited a fierce political controversy. The 26-year-old, from Kottayam district, was found dead in Thiruvananthapuram on October 9, prompting calls for an impartial investigation from all sides.
On Monday, the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) demanded a thorough inquiry into the circumstances surrounding the death. K B Sreekumar, RSS Dakshina Keralam Saha Prantha Karyavah, described the loss of “one of our Swayamsevaks” as “sad and unfortunate” and called for a comprehensive probe into the suicide note posted online, which he described as containing “dubious and baseless allegations” against the organization.

The RSS also filed a petition with Kottayam police, alleging a deliberate attempt to malign its reputation and framing the incident as part of a broader conspiracy to discredit the Sangh.
Political parties weighed in swiftly. The Democratic Youth Federation of India (DYFI), the youth wing of the CPI(M), had already called for an investigation, highlighting the man’s alleged mental trauma over sexual abuse. DYFI state general secretary V K Sanooj claimed, “His death is a warning to others about what’s happening in RSS shakhas.”

Congress MP Priyanka Gandhi Vadra raised alarm over systemic abuse in RSS camps, stating on X that the victim “was not the only one” and warning that “lakhs of young children and teenagers attend these camps all over India.”
The BJP joined calls for a “free and fair” probe but accused Congress of exploiting the tragedy for political gains. “This incident is very unfortunate and painful. But what is more painful is the dastardly politics which the Congress is trying to play to malign the image of the RSS,” said BJP national spokesperson Sudhanshu Trivedi.
Meanwhile, Thiruvananthapuram city police have registered the case as a natural death, leaving the investigation into the allegations and circumstances ongoing.
