Supreme Court Junior Court Assistant Recruitment 2026: Apply for 250 posts, check details

The Supreme Court of India has announced recruitment for 250 temporary Junior Court Assistant positions, with the online application process scheduled to begin on Oct 7, 2026.

Candidates appointed to the posts will receive a starting basic salary of ₹35,400 under Pay Matrix Level-6, along with applicable allowances.

Eligible applicants can submit their forms through the Supreme Court’s official website until 11:55 PM on Oct 20, 2026.

Eligibility criteria

Applicants must hold a graduation degree from a recognized university in India and have basic computer knowledge. They must also have an English typing speed of at least 35 words per minute on a computer.

The prescribed age limit is 18 to 30 years as of September 1, 2026. Age relaxation will be available to candidates from SC, ST, OBC (Non-Creamy Layer), persons with disabilities and ex-servicemen categories according to Central Government rules.

Dependents of freedom fighters will be eligible for additional age relaxation of up to five years.

Selection process

The recruitment process will comprise four stages: an objective-type test, a computer typing test, a descriptive written test and an interview.

The objective-type examination will carry 100 marks and have a duration of 90 minutes. Questions will cover General English, General Aptitude, General Knowledge, judicial provisions of the Indian Constitution, Supreme Court Rules, 2013, Supreme Court Officers and Servants Service Rules, 1961, and computer knowledge.

Candidates will need to secure at least 50 marks in the objective test to qualify for the next stage.

The computer typing test will be conducted for 10 minutes in English. Applicants will be required to maintain a minimum typing speed of 35 words per minute. The test will carry 50 marks, with candidates required to score at least 25 marks to qualify.

The descriptive written examination will be conducted in English for two hours. It will assess candidates through comprehension, precis writing and essay writing. The examination will carry 100 marks, and candidates must secure a minimum of 50 marks.

Those who clear the written stages will appear for the interview, which will carry 25 marks. A minimum score of 13 marks will be required to qualify for this stage.

Application fee

General and unreserved category candidates will have to pay an application fee of ₹1,500. The fee for SC, ST, OBC (Non-Creamy Layer), ex-servicemen and persons with disabilities candidates is ₹750.

Applicable bank charges will be additional. The fee must be paid online through the UCO Bank payment gateway and will not be refunded once paid.

Application dates

The online application window will open on Oct 7, 2026. Eligible candidates will have until 11:55 PM on Oct 20 to complete and submit their applications.

Applications will be accepted only through the Supreme Court’s official website, www.sci.gov.in. The recruitment notice specifies that applications submitted by post will not be accepted.
