Applications have begun for Spemann Graduate School of Biology and Medicine's (SGBM) PhD scholarships 2025 provided under the DAAD-funded Graduate School Scholarship Program (GSSP).
Funded by the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD), the scholarships support scholars in conducting advanced research.

The SGBM scholarship offers an interdisciplinary PhD program at one of Germany's top research institutions, specializing in pioneering biomedical and life sciences research.
SGBM collaborates with other renowned research institutes such as Max Planck Institute of Immunobiology and Epigenetics, Bernstein Center Freiburg, and University Medical Center Freiburg.
The program offers top-notch training, access to cutting-edge research facilities and world's one of the best mentorship.
Candidates who want to apply for the scholarship must have a master’s degree (or equivalent) in Biology, Medicine, Biotechnology, or related fields.
They must also possess strong academic record and research experience and must not have resided in Germany for more than 15 months at the time of application, along with other eligibility criteria set by DAAD.
The winning scholars get full financial support which covers tuition and living expenses, along with research funding for lab work, study materials, and conferences. Full financial support covering tuition and living expenses.
The scholarship also covers health insurance and travel allowance.
