Indian students will have a chance to pursue fully funded studies in Russia next year, with the Russian government opening 300 scholarships for the 2026 to 2027 academic cycle.

The scheme allows applicants to seek admission to undergraduate, specialist, master's, and doctoral programs, along with advanced training courses.

The scholarships cover tuition fees at most institutions, except Lomonosov Moscow State University and MGIMO, enabling students to study at no cost.

The fields available under the program include medicine, pharmacy, engineering, architecture, agriculture, management, economics, humanities, mathematics, space science, aviation, sports, and the arts.

Some medical and engineering courses are offered in English, and students unfamiliar with Russian may take a one-year language foundation course before starting their main studies.

All applications must be made through the official portal education in russia dot com, and no submissions through other channels will be entertained.

The selection process has two stages. The first evaluates academic records and supporting documents such as publications, recommendation letters, and certificates from academic contests.

Shortlisted candidates will then move to the placement and visa stage overseen by Russia's Ministry of Science and Higher Education.

The first stage deadline is Jan 15, 2026, and the Ministry of Education in India has clarified that it is not involved in screening or nominating candidates for the program.
