Nearly 9.71 lakh students appeared for the Class 10 board examination this year, with 131 candidates securing positions in the top 10 merit rankings statewide.

The West Bengal Board of Secondary Education announced the Class 10 Madhyamik Result 2026 on May 8, recording an overall pass percentage of 86.83%.
The results were formally declared during a press conference held at 9:30 AM, while online access for students began at 10:15 AM.

This year, nearly 9.71 lakh students appeared for the state board examination. The board also confirmed that 131 students secured positions in the top 10 merit list.
Topper and Merit Details
Abhiroop Bhadra from Uttar Dinajpur secured Rank 1 in the examination with 698 marks, topping the state merit list.
Along with individual scores, the board released details related to toppers, district-wise performance, and overall pass statistics.

The board has already distributed original marksheets and certificates to schools through designated camp offices. Students can also use DigiLocker and SMS services to access their results.

Students are advised to verify all details mentioned on the online scorecard carefully. The provisional marksheet can be used temporarily until schools issue original documents.
Re-evaluation and Next Steps
Students dissatisfied with their scores will be allowed to apply for scrutiny or re-evaluation according to board guidelines. The board is also expected to announce details regarding compartment examinations shortly.
After the declaration of results, students can proceed with admission planning for Higher Secondary education in streams including Science, Commerce, and Arts based on their preferences and career goals.
