The initiative aims to empower rural and meritorious youth by offering free academic coaching, physical training, study materials, and mentorship, ensuring equal opportunities and enhancing preparedness for competitive government exams.

The Punjab government has launched a focused initiative to prepare youth for competitive examinations by providing free academic and physical training under Mission Pragati.
Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann outlined the program while interacting with students at the district library on Jan 11.

Mann said the initiative targets rural and meritorious students who cannot afford expensive coaching. Free classes have begun at the district library for exams conducted by the Services Selection Board, police, and armed forces. Forty students are enrolled in the first batch.
Along with classroom lessons, physical training is being provided by experienced Punjab Police trainers to ensure candidates’ overall preparedness. Students will also receive free access to books and study materials through library membership.
The program uses existing infrastructure, keeping costs minimal. Mann explained that Mission Pragati follows a "youth helping youth" model, where mentors are former candidates who have themselves appeared in competitive exams.
The initiative has garnered support from educationists, universities, police officials, athletes, and students.
Mann said the program is guided by the principle of "no one left behind," aiming to provide equal opportunities and increase youth representation in government services.
Reiterating the state government’s vision, the chief minister added that Punjab’s education reforms focus on transforming job seekers into job providers and promoting the holistic development of young people.
