NCERT launches four day AI based online program to strengthen math learning

The National Council of Educational Research and Training has rolled out a four day online interactive program aimed at strengthening mathematics learning by using artificial intelligence, with sessions scheduled from Jan 12 to Jan 15, 2026.

NCERT said the initiative is designed to improve conceptual clarity in mathematics, help identify learning gaps, and demonstrate how digital and AI based tools can be used more effectively in school education.

The program will be delivered nationwide through online streaming and educational broadcast platforms.

According to the council, the sessions will focus on how students understand mathematical concepts, the types of errors they commonly make, and how technology can support systematic intervention.

The emphasis will be on concept-driven learning rather than rote memorization, using practical classroom examples.

The four sessions will be held on consecutive days, with one-hour-long classes scheduled daily from 10:00 am to 11:00 am IST. The program will be streamed live on NCERT’s official YouTube channel and PM eVidya channels.

Participation will be free, and no separate registration process is required. Students, teachers, and others connected with school education can join directly through the broadcast platforms.

Each day will address a specific aspect of mathematics learning through artificial intelligence. The Jan 12 session will focus on how AI tools can identify common student mistakes and monitor learning progress using data-driven insights.

On Jan 13, the discussion will center on diagnostic assessments designed to pinpoint learning gaps. NCERT said these assessments differ from conventional tests, as they aim to identify problem areas rather than measure scores alone.

The Jan 14 session will explore the use of visual learning resources, including diagrams and models, to help students understand complex or abstract mathematical concepts more easily.

The final session on Jan 15 will highlight differentiated learning through digital platforms, explaining how AI tools can support students with varying learning needs and allow flexible, self-paced learning.

NCERT said the initiative is part of its broader effort to integrate digital tools into classroom teaching and improve mathematics outcomes.

The council added that similar digital learning series are planned as part of its ongoing education initiatives and advised students to attend all four sessions for maximum benefit.
