PM highlights the need for collaborative efforts in education, skill training, and healthcare to foster sustainable development and empower India’s youth for future challenges.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi emphasized that the vision of investing in people is built upon three key pillars: education, skill development, and healthcare.
He called on all stakeholders to step up and increase their investments in these areas, as the next stage of development hinges on it.
Speaking at a post-budget webinar on employment via video conference on March 5, PM Modi described this year’s Union Budget as a roadmap for India’s future.
He pointed out that investments are equally prioritized across infrastructure, industries, people, the economy, and innovation.
PM Modi stressed that building capacity and nurturing talent are essential for the nation's progress.
He explained that these elements are crucial for the country’s economic growth and form the foundation for the success of any organization.
"India’s education system is undergoing a major transformation after decades of change," he said, highlighting key initiatives such as the National Education Policy, the expansion of IITs, the integration of technology in education, and fully leveraging the potential of artificial intelligence (AI).
Referring to initiatives like the digitization of textbooks and providing learning materials in 22 Indian languages, PM Modi said, "These mission-driven efforts have aligned India’s education system with the demands of the 21st century."
The Prime Minister also pointed out that since 2014, over 3 crore youth have received skill training, with 1,000 ITIs being upgraded and 5 Centres of Excellence established.
He emphasized the importance of providing youth with industry-relevant training to enhance their employability.
"With the support of global experts, we are working to ensure that Indian youth can compete on the world stage," PM Modi added.
He underscored the critical role of both industry and academia in these initiatives, urging them to better understand and meet each other’s needs.
This collaboration will help provide youth with the necessary opportunities to adapt to a rapidly evolving world, gain exposure, and access platforms for practical learning.
PM Modi also touched on the launch of the PM-Internship Scheme, aimed at offering youth new opportunities and practical skills.
He stressed the importance of ensuring maximum industry involvement at every level of this initiative.
In terms of healthcare, the Prime Minister highlighted the addition of 10,000 new medical seats in this year's budget, with a goal of adding 75,000 seats over the next five years.
