National Testing Agency (NTA)
The National Testing Agency (NTA) released the revised merit list on July 29 following the revised scorecard, introducing a new topper's list of the National Eligibility Cum Entrance Test for Undergraduate (NEET UG) 2024. The new cut-offs for all categories had been issued where the unreserved (UR) cut-off is lowered by two points.
The Supreme Court on July 23 asked the NTA to correct the mistake of awarding marks for two responses to a Physics multiple-choice question (MCQ), indicating that there should be the only correct answer.

The NEET cut-off percentile for admission to Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) and Bachelor of Dental Surgery (BDS) courses is 50th percentile for general category students and 40th percentile for OBC, SC, and ST candidates. The NTA generates the NEET UG percentile based on the highest scores from the national NEET UG 2024 merit list.
The all-India quota (AlQ) seat counseling dates are expected to be released shortly. An update on the NEET counseling schedule for 2024 has not yet been provided by the Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) or the AYUSH Admissions Central Counseling Committee (AACCC).
24,06,079 students registered for the NEET 2024 examination, and of them only 23,33,162 actually showed up to take the examination. Out of which only 13,15,853 students got qualified.
Presently, India has 695 medical colleges. In total, these colleges offer admission to 1,06,333 medical seats.
A student's rank is directly proportional to their scores, with greater scores typically indicating higher ranks. This is especially significant for individuals hoping to get into a prestigious medical college.
The NEET-UG exam is not only for admission to the MBBS program but also admits students to the BDS, Bachelor of Ayurvedic Medicine and Surgery (BAMS), Bachelor of Unani Medicine and Surgery (BUMS), Bachelor of Siddha Medicine and Surgery (BSMS), Bachelor of Homeopathic Medicine and Surgery (BHMS), MNS (Military Nursing Service), and the four-year BSc Nursing program.
