The National Eligibility and Entrance Test-Undergraduate (NEET UG) 2024 counseling has been postponed till further notice. The All-India Quota (AIQ) seat counseling for NEET UG was supposed to start on July 6, but it has been postponed. The decision comes after the Supreme Court declined to delay the NEET UG counseling.
The Supreme Court is expected to hear multiple petitions related to NEET UG 2024 on July 8, headed by Chief Justice of India (CJI) DY Chandrachud and Justices JB Pardiwala and Manoj Misra.
The petitions filed in the SC alleged the paper leak and demanded re-examination. The petition seeks an investigation into the National Testing Agency's (NTA) operations.
Students who passed the medical entrance exam were expected to begin the NEET UG counseling procedure, which consists of several stages like mop-up rounds and stray vacancy rounds.
Eligible candidates must register and pay the required fees in order to proceed with their NEET UG counseling. They also have to physically report to the assigned institute, upload the necessary documents, lock them in, and submit their choices.
Particularly, seats in government colleges, central and deemed universities, as well as seats set aside for Insured Persons (IP) quota beneficiaries in Employees' State Insurance Corporation (ESIC) medical colleges, are included in the 15% All India Quota (AIQ) for NEET UG counseling. Seats at Pune's Armed Forces Medical College (AFMC) are also included.
Furthermore, the results of a retest that was conducted on June 23 for 813 out of 1563 candidates were released by the NTA on June 30. The number of the highest scorers dropped from 67 to 61 in the revised results.
