Currently leading MMMUT Gorakhpur, Professor Saini will serve a three-year term at Lucknow University, with officials preparing for administrative transition and expectations of academic reform and digital governance.

Lucknow University is set for a change in leadership following the appointment of Professor Jay Prakash Saini as its new Vice-Chancellor, according to an official order issued by Uttar Pradesh Governor and Chancellor Anandiben Patel.
Professor Saini, currently serving as Vice-Chancellor of Madan Mohan Malaviya University of Technology in Gorakhpur, has been appointed for a three-year term at Lucknow University. He is expected to assume office shortly after completing the required administrative formalities.

University officials said preparatory work for the transition has begun, with departments coordinating documentation and handover procedures. The process is likely to be completed in the coming days.
The move marks a notable transition for both institutions. During his tenure at MMMUT, Professor Saini focused on strengthening academic systems and building industry linkages.
His background in leading a technical university is expected to shape his approach at Lucknow University, which offers programs across humanities, sciences, and professional disciplines.
The appointment comes amid broader efforts across Uttar Pradesh’s universities to implement academic reforms, improve digital governance, and enhance student services.
Lucknow University has been working on curriculum updates, research expansion, and digital initiatives, areas where the new Vice-Chancellor is expected to play a key role.
The Raj Bhavan stated that the appointment was made in line with the prescribed selection process and based on recommendations from the search committee.
University officials added that once Professor Saini takes charge, he is expected to review ongoing projects and engage with faculty members, administrative officials, and student representatives.
With the formal order issued, the university is preparing for the start of Professor Saini’s tenure and the direction his leadership may bring to the institution.
