The Karnataka government signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the University of Liverpool on Friday to collaborate on research and innovation activities.
The government hailed the partnership as a significant step toward enhancing cooperation in education and research.
The agreement was signed in the presence of Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, Industries Minister M B Patil, Higher Education Minister Dr M C Sudhakar, University of Liverpool Vice-Chancellor Tim Jones, and Pro Vice-Chancellor Tariq Ali.
According to the government, the MoU aims to strengthen research collaboration, enhance educational cooperation, and establish a joint working group to advance the partnership.

Key UK dignitaries, including Janaka Pushpanathan, Director of the British Council Division at the British Deputy High Commission, and James Godber, Deputy Head of Mission, attended the ceremony.
Professor Tim Jones and Professor Tariq Ali from the University of Liverpool also participated in formalizing the agreement.
The collaboration will promote faculty and student exchange programs, joint research initiatives, and stronger industry-academic connections.
"This MoU is a major step toward making Karnataka a global hub for knowledge and innovation," said Minister MB Patil. "It will pave the way for collaborations benefiting both academia and industry."
This agreement was signed ahead of the Global Investors Meet (GIM) – Invest Karnataka 2025, scheduled from February 12-14, with the inaugural event on February 11.
The event aims to showcase Karnataka's investment potential and foster collaborations across education, research, and industry sectors.
