The initiative begins in 10 Patna schools before expanding to all 155 model schools, offering expert faculty, digital learning, smart classrooms, and study materials free.

The Bihar government on July 16 rolled out the 'Bihar School Live Classes' initiative and launched a free coaching program for JEE and NEET aspirants in government schools, beginning with 10 model schools in Patna. The state has announced plans to gradually extend the initiative to all 155 model schools across Bihar.
Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary inaugurated the program at Rajkiya Kanya Uchcha Madhyamik Vidyalaya in Shastrinagar, describing it as an effort to integrate technology with classroom learning and provide government school students with quality preparation for competitive examinations.

“With this innovative initiative, students of government schools will now have access to live classes by expert teachers, digital study materials, modern technology-based teaching, and free, high-quality preparation for competitive exams like NEET and JEE,” the Chief Minister said in a post on X.
The newly introduced initiative connects students in the selected model schools to a centralized live teaching platform, enabling them to attend classes conducted by experienced faculty members in real time.
During the event, the Bihar School Examination Board (BSEB) also officially launched its online coaching platform along with the state's NEET and JEE preparation campaign.
According to BSEB, the first phase has enrolled 518 students, including 266 preparing for the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) and 252 for the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET). Following the pilot, the coaching program will be expanded to all 155 model schools across the state.
Students participating in the program will receive free coaching from subject specialists, comprehensive study material, regular doubt-clearing sessions, app-based interactive learning support, and fortnightly assessments.
Classes will be conducted in air-conditioned smart classrooms equipped with digital boards to enhance technology-enabled learning.
Each model school will have four dedicated faculty members covering Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, and Biology. For the pilot phase, the Bihar School Examination Board has appointed 40 teachers across the 10 participating schools.
To help students balance school education with competitive exam preparation, coaching sessions will continue beyond regular school hours. Classes will run until 6 p.m. for girls and 7 p.m. for boys.
During the inauguration, the Chief Minister also unveiled two smart classrooms fitted with interactive digital panels at the school, saying the facilities would make classroom instruction more engaging, effective, and technology-driven.
The event also witnessed the signing of Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) between the Bihar government and seven voluntary organizations to strengthen innovation, skill development, and quality teaching in government schools.
The state already operates a free residential coaching program in Patna for meritorious Class 11 students preparing for JEE and NEET.
The initiative provides coaching, accommodation, meals, and specialized study material free of cost. Two batches, 2025 to 2027 and 2026 to 2028, are currently enrolled under the residential program.
According to BSEB, students from the 2024 to 2026 residential coaching batch performed well in national engineering entrance examinations. A total of 15 students qualified JEE Advanced 2026, making them eligible for admission to the Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs).
Apart from the residential initiative, Bihar also runs non-residential coaching centers in nine divisional headquarters, including Patna, Muzaffarpur, Chhapra, Darbhanga, Saharsa, Purnea, Bhagalpur, Munger, and Gaya.
These centers are connected through smart classrooms that allow students to learn from expert teachers remotely.
Students enrolled at these centers receive free study material, assistance with admission to affiliated educational institutions, and a monthly scholarship of ₹1,000 for two years, amounting to a total financial assistance of ₹24,000.
Highlighting the positive outcomes of the existing coaching initiatives and the growing demand among students, the Bihar government said the decision to extend free JEE and NEET coaching to all model schools aims to improve access to quality competitive exam preparation for students studying in government schools across the state.
