The Department of Polymer and Process Engineering (DPPE) at the Indian Institute of Technology Roorkee (IITR), situated in the Saharanpur campus, stands as a unique hub for cutting-edge research in polymer science, polymer engineering, process engineering, and chemical engineering.
IIT Roorkee's DPPE offers a comprehensive four-year Bachelor of Technology (BTech) program spanning eight semesters, focusing on Polymer Science and Engineering. The curriculum encompasses crucial subjects such as Mathematics, IT, Chemistry, and Chemical Engineering. In addition to these, students are equipped with knowledge in Thermodynamics, Mass Transfer, Energy Balance, and other essential concepts of chemical engineering, which play a vital role in understanding the intricacies of polymer processing.
Upon successful completion of the program, students acquire a profound understanding of polymer properties at both macro and molecular levels, enabling them to aptly assess polymer applications. Their proficiency in machinery and polymer processing empowers them to develop and test applications, thus making a significant impact in this era centered on polymers.
IIT Roorkee's Department offers a comprehensive PhD program in Polymer Science and Engineering, blending in-depth coursework with hands-on research opportunities. The program aims to equip students with cutting-edge knowledge in various interdisciplinary technological fields. Graduates are poised to apply their expertise in Polymer and Process engineering to address academic and industrial challenges in materials science.
Students in the PhD program engage in advanced coursework on pertinent research subjects and conduct research under the guidance of faculty members with extensive international experience. The culmination of the program involves presenting a scientific thesis before a panel of experts.

Additionally, the Department also provides a two-year full-time MTech program in Polymer Science and Engineering.
