"This initiative demonstrates our dedication to advancing interdisciplinary education and making a positive impact in the fields of musopathy and Indian music, both of which are highly esteemed," read the IIT Mandi press release.
The deadline for the online application for the course is July 15.
The research-based Master of Science and Doctorate programs in Music and Musopathy are designed to generate highly qualified professionals and scholars who can make significant contributions to the development and understanding of music and its positive effects on people and society, including the wellness-focused field of Musopathy.
With an emphasis on basic, intermediate, and advanced topics, this IIT Mandi program offers a thorough education in music and musopathy that is enhanced by the knowledge of the Indian Knowledge System and Mental Health Application (IKSMHA).
Graduates of these courses will have several options not just in the classical, popular, and film music industries, as music recording and production specialists, but also in research institutes, academia, and the healthcare and wellness sectors.
The seamless integration of technology, music, and therapy provides graduates with the broad abilities required for innovative problem-solving and leadership roles in a variety of disciplines.
“IIT Mandi is committed to developing science and technology relevant to the Indian knowledge system. The establishment of the M.S. and PhD programs in music and medicine is a significant next phase in this attempt. This course will examine Indian music's therapeutic benefits for the overall health of the body, mind, and consciousness, in addition to its scientific foundations," said IIT Mandi Director Laxmidhar Behera.
