IIT-Madras to host ‘demo day’ for JEE aspirants in June

The ‘demo day’ is part of the AskIITM initiative run by alumni and students which aims to highlight the features of the institute that has been ranked 3rd among top engineering colleges by Indian Institutional Ranking Framework (IIRF) rankings 2023.

The Indian Institute of Technology Madras (IIT-Madras) is set to organize a ‘demo day’ on June 15 and 16 for JEE 2024 aspirants, allowing them to visit the campus to experience life as an IIT student.

The ‘demo day’ is part of the AskIITM initiative run by alumni and students which aims to highlight the features of the institute that has been ranked 3rd among top engineering colleges by Indian Institutional Ranking Framework (IIRF) rankings 2023. 

The management has advised the interested candidates to register early through its website askiitm.com/demo. The seats for the event are limited, the management has said.

During the event, Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) 2024 aspirants can interact with the current students at the premier institute, including faculty members, to receive authentic and recent information.

The institute will also allow virtual participation for candidates who cannot travel to IIT Madras, in an online session on June 17.

During the online session, Professor V Kamakoti, the director of the institute, other faculty, and alumni will respond to queries related to academic and non-academic life on the IIT Madras campus.

Aspirants in and around Bengaluru and Hyderabad can also choose to attend the satellite demo day events which will be held at SD Auditorium, IISc, in Bengaluru on June 11 and the other at T-Hub in Hyderabad on June 12. Senior faculty, current students, and alumni will be present at the two events in Bengaluru and Hyderabad.

“This is also an opportunity to interact with current students, faculty, and alumni and receive authentic and up-to-date information directly from the source,” an official statement said.

The team has also put up more than 200 videos on Instagram and YouTube about various topics related to IIT Madras. 

“This is a crucial juncture for young children to decide their career path, and they must make an informed decision. Through this event, IIT-M provides an opportunity for young children to visit our campus and learn about various engineering and other disciplines before making a choice," said Prof Kamakoti.
